Job Overview:

The Gage Control Coordinator manages HG Medical's gage and measurement-equipment control system. The role ensures gages are properly identified, available, within calibration, accurately tracked, and appropriately stored, while coordinating calibration, repair, and recall activities. This position supports production and Quality in accordance with the HG Medical Quality Management System, ISO 13485, approved procedures, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements, and reports to the Quality & Regulatory Affairs Manager or assigned Quality leader.

Key Responsibilities:

Gage Preparation & Control:

Review work orders, drawings, inspection plans, and job requirements to determine required gages and measurement tools. Prepare, stage, issue, and receive gages while maintaining identification, calibration status, and location traceability. Verify gages are within calibration and suitable for use before issuance; prevent use of expired, damaged, unidentified, or otherwise unapproved equipment. Inspect returned gages for wear, damage, contamination, missing components, or illegible status identification and route items for appropriate action.

Calibration & Tracking:

Maintain accurate gage inventory, calibration due dates, service history, location, status, and supporting records in the approved tracking system. Monitor calibration due dates and coordinate timely recall, internal or external calibration, repair, shipment, and return of gages. Review calibration and service documentation for completeness before equipment is returned to service. Quarantine and escalate expired, failed, out-of-tolerance, or questionable gages for Quality review and product-impact evaluation when required. Maintain calibration labels and status identification and support periodic physical inventory and reconciliation of gages throughout the facility.

Quality Systems & Compliance:

Ensure gages are properly stored, protected, and handled to reduce the risk of damage, contamination, corrosion, loss, or unintended adjustment. Perform gage-control activities in accordance with approved procedures, Good Documentation Practices, ISO 13485, and applicable customer and regulatory requirements. Support internal, customer, registrar, and regulatory audits related to gage control, calibration, traceability, and monitoring and measuring equipment. Communicate calibration needs, overdue items, repair status, equipment concerns, and gage availability to Quality and affected departments, and identify opportunities to improve the gage-control process.

Qualifications & Requirements Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in gage control, calibration coordination, quality inspection, precision manufacturing, or a similar technical environment; equivalent training or demonstrated aptitude may be considered. Ability to follow detailed procedures, maintain equipment traceability, manage calibration due dates, and complete records accurately. Basic ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensions, tolerances, and measurement requirements. Working familiarity with common precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, pin or plug gages, thread gages, height gages, or similar tools. Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, computer skills, and judgment to stop or escalate equipment when calibration status or measurement reliability is questionable.

Preferred:

Associate degree, technical certificate, or coursework in quality, metrology, manufacturing, machining, or a related field. Experience with gage-control or calibration systems in medical device, orthopedic, aerospace, automotive, precision machining, or another regulated or high-tolerance environment. Familiarity with ISO 13485, calibration controls, Good Documentation Practices, audit requirements, and external calibration or repair providers. Why Join HG Medical? Pay:

$24.00 - $29.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
