Job Description

Fiber Installation Technician A Fiber Installation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic network infrastructure, delivering reliable high-speed internet, video, and voice services to residential and commercial customers. This role involves working with fiber drops, splicing equipment, and customer premise devices, while providing hands-on technical support throughout the installation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Configuration Install and activate fiber optic drops from the pole, pedestal, or handhole to the customer premise, including aerial, underground, and buried installations Perform fusion splicing and test fiber connections to confirm signal integrity and service quality before completing the work order Install and configure ONTs (optical network terminals), routers, extenders, and other customer equipment to ensure a strong, reliable connection Maintenance and Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve issues related to signal loss, connectivity drops, and equipment malfunctions Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and equipment swaps to keep the network running at full performance Inspect, repair, or replace damaged fiber drops, enclosures, and related hardware as needed Customer Interaction Walk customers through their new fiber service and equipment setup in clear, easy-to-understand terms Respond to customer questions and concerns about service performance Leave every job site with a satisfied customer and a clean, professional installation Safety and Compliance Confirm utility locates before any digging, boring, or trenching Follow all fiber industry standards, OSHA safety regulations, and company/vendor-specific installation guidelines Use required PPE and tools properly to maintain a safe worksite at all times
Requirements:
Valid driver's license and Social Security card Clean background check Reliable van, minivan, or pickup truck Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience with fiber optic cable systems required (coax experience a plus) We offer: Good salary starting from $1800+/High Rates.
