Role Description The Automation Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Raleigh, NC. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining building automation systems, including controls for HVAC and related electrical components. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostics, troubleshooting system issues, and completing corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure reliable operation. The Automation Technician will collaborate with project managers, electricians, and HVAC technicians to support new construction, upgrades, and service calls, while documenting work performed and system changes. The role also includes reading and interpreting technical drawings and wiring diagrams, verifying system performance, and communicating clearly with customers and team members about findings and solutions. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance skills to diagnose issues and keep automation systems operating efficiently. Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Electricity and Automation to work safely with control panels, sensors, actuators, and building management systems. Candidates should possess familiarity with Robotics or automated mechanical processes, including basic understanding of control logic and integration with HVAC and electrical systems. Relevant technical training or certification in HVAC, electrical, or industrial automation is beneficial. Ability to read schematics and technical documentation, use diagnostic tools, and follow safety standards and codes. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a field team. Previous experience in building automation, controls, or commercial HVAC environments is preferred but not required.
