Monday-Friday with travel throughout the North Zone Position Summary Nippon Sanso Matheson is seeking an experienced, hands-on Automation Specialist based in Waverly, Nebraska to support automation, robotics, electrical and mechanical systems across our facilities and customer sites throughout the North Zone. This is a field-focused, hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, working directly with industrial automation systems and solving problems in the field. We're looking for someone who can diagnose an issue, understand the controls behind it and physically work on the equipment to get it operating correctly. The Automation Specialist will travel regularly Monday through Friday to support plants and customer locations, with overnight stays as needed. The position generally returns home weekly, although occasional urgent travel may be required. What You'll Do Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial automation and robotic equipment Diagnose electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic system issues Troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled equipment and industrial control systems Work with PLC, HMI and automation software to diagnose equipment and process issues Troubleshoot and repair VFDs, DC relays, circuit boards, sensors and related electrical components Work with both low-voltage DC and high-voltage AC systems Perform robot troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance and repair Use OEM and robot calibration software to diagnose and correct equipment issues Support industrial robotics platforms, which may include FANUC, Motoman/Yaskawa, ABB, KUKA or similar systems Perform preventive maintenance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and equipment documentation Work closely with plant personnel, maintenance teams and other technical resources to resolve equipment issues Maintain accurate service and maintenance documentation Follow all company safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements What We're Looking For 3-5 years of industrial robotics, automation, controls or related hands-on experience Strong electrical/electronic and mechanical troubleshooting ability Experience working with industrial robotic systems Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics Experience troubleshooting VFDs, relays, circuit boards, sensors and other industrial electrical components Ability to troubleshoot low-voltage DC and high-voltage AC systems Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings Comfortable using Microsoft applications and equipment/robot diagnostic and calibration software Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently in the field and determine the root cause of equipment problems Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the North Zone Experience with robot programming, PLC programming or advanced controls troubleshooting is highly valued. Experience with every robotic platform or OEM software package is not required; additional equipment-specific training can be provided. Travel This position requires significant regional travel to NSM plants and customer sites throughout the North Zone. Travel generally occurs Monday through Friday , including overnight stays depending on the assignment, with employees typically returning home each week. Occasional urgent travel outside the normal schedule may be necessary. Candidates should be comfortable working in a field-service environment where the work location can change depending on operational needs. The Type of Person We're Looking For This is not primarily a desk-based automation position. We're looking for a hands-on technician/specialist — someone who is as comfortable turning a wrench and troubleshooting equipment in the field as they are connecting to a PLC or robotic controller. The right person will have a strong combination of electrical, mechanical and automation knowledge and the ability to systematically troubleshoot equipment when something isn't working.Pay Range:
$30.00-$35.00 per hour, based on experienceLocation:
