Job Title:
Automation and Control Systems Technician Job Description Provide engineering support and leadership for plant automation, control, and instrumentation systems. Troubleshoot and improve moderately complex control and instrumentation issues to support safe and reliable operations. Support the design, specification, installation, startup, and validation of capital and upgrade projects. Ensure compliance with site standards, cGMP requirements, and good engineering practices. Responsibilities Lead mid-level engineering projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholder communication. Develop and implement control strategies in collaboration with Operations and Engineering teams. Maintain system documentation, as-built drawings, and control system records to ensure a strong state of control. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and automation performance. Research, evaluate, and select automation technologies and equipment to support business objectives. Develop calibration, preventive maintenance, and operational procedures for control systems and instrumentation. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience with process control systems including instrumentation, automated control, and electrical distribution. Experience in programming/troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Experience in programming and configuration of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industries. Experience with Allen-Bradley, Modicon, and Siemens S7 PLCs. Experience with Wonderware products. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Experience with network and system administration of Microsoft-based systems, Visual Basic, and SQL. Work Environment The work environment is a very large GMP regulated manufacturing facility undergoing expansion. The facility is currently undergoing construction and demolition with plans to add new manufacturing lines and filling/compounding suites. This environment offers growth opportunities, including potential for advancement into a managerial role. The facility plans to manufacture a variety of generic medicines including vitamins, hard narcotics, antibiotics, and hormones. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.
