Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Commissioning Technician III to handle complex technical planning, installation, programming, and commissioning for advanced energy control systems and retrofits. In this role, you will work with minimal supervision to deliver top-tier remote and on-site technical services nationwide. If you are a skilled DDC technician with expertise in modern building automation protocols, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to exceptional client service, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities System Commissioning & Installation:
Design, install, program, and terminate DDC systems, low-voltage cabling, and advanced energy control retrofits/upgrades independently using complex logic sequences.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide remote and on-site advanced technical support for HVAC, lighting, and DDC systems. Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule for service calls.
System Integration:
Download databases, monitor system points, commission RTUs and lighting controllers, and integrate systems using standard industry protocols.
Quality Assurance & Closeout:
Perform cross-checks, complete quality control checklists, confirm final punch lists, update CRM databases, and manage required closeout documentation.
Client & Team Leadership:
Conduct customer training on hardware and system functions, mentor junior technicians, and foster a collaborative team environment.
Project Management Support:
Track project schedules, monitor project estimates, and prioritize multiple tasks within design specifications and budget constraints. Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. 2-4 years of experience in the Commissioning controls trade within the construction industry. 2-year Associate Degree or military experience preferred . Technical Skills & Capabilities Highly complex knowledge of electricity, HVAC systems, and the ability to read/interpret mechanical and electrical plans. Proficiency in programming and integrating systems via NIAGARA, BACnet, LonWorks, and Modbus . Solid understanding of modern building automation control products, Cat 5 networks, and IP networks. Excellent general computer proficiency, including standard office software and spreadsheet data entry. General & Personal Attributes Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills for client-facing and team-oriented collaboration. Strong problem-solving and time-management skills to balance multiple deadlines and projects. Willingness to travel to remote nationwide locations and participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call availability schedule. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and move materials up to 50 pounds.
