  • Full-time About the Role Nicola USA runs an automated screen printing operation in Greer, SC, printing artwork on personal-care packaging for major consumer brands.
We run three printing lines across three shifts, with robotics handling sorting, pick and place, and pack-out, and we are adding more lines before the end of the year. We are looking for an Automation Maintenance Technician to keep those lines running. This is the person who gets a machine back up. When a robot clamp stops releasing canisters, a flame station will not light at startup, a pneumatic cylinder fails, a sensor drifts out of position, or a bearing seizes on its bolt, you are who the shift calls. You will also work with our shift leaders to strengthen the preventive maintenance program and the spare parts bench that keep those calls from happening in the first place. When the lines are healthy, you are not standing around. You run production alongside our operators, handle screen changes and changeovers, and keep print quality on target. No screen printing background required. We will teach you our process. This is a hands-on technical role in a young, fast-growing plant. What You'll Do Run the printing lines alongside the operators when the lines are up, and step in wherever production needs a set of hands. Change screens and dial in print quality: screen mounting and alignment, registration, off-contact, squeegee pressure and angle, and ink coverage. Catch a bad print before it becomes a scrapped run. Run changeovers and first-piece setup, and back up every shift on changeovers so production is never scheduled around one person's availability. Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns across three automated printing lines: bearings, shafts, bushings, fasteners, conveyors and infeed belts, transfer plates, rollers, and station alignment. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, air lines and filtration, and vacuum and suction cup assemblies. Keep the robotics running. Clamp and gripper travel, grip pressure and timing, home position recovery, push and back arm faults, and pick and place accuracy. Adjust, replace, and verify sensors: proximity, hopper, feed, and home position. Set correct gaps and sensitivity and document them so settings do not drift between shifts. Own flame treatment station setup and repair, including warm-up sequence, gas and air pressure by station, and consistent settings across all three shifts.
Support quality-critical equipment:
AOI camera setup and configuration and squeegee condition. Work with the shift leaders to improve the preventive maintenance program, and carry out the shift, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks with the work logged and the results visible. Support the spare parts bench alongside the shift leaders. Flag what is running low, help keep minimum stock levels honest, and bench-test spares before they go on a machine so a bad spare never costs a line. Log every issue, cause, and fix in the maintenance tracker, and post a clear handoff in the operations chat at the end of each shift. Help write and maintain the standard procedures for startup, changeover, reset, and shutdown so every shift does the job the same way. Work directly with our equipment manufacturer's technical team, including video and photo troubleshooting, to resolve issues we cannot solve on the floor. Train operators and shift leaders on first-response troubleshooting so the easy fixes stop waiting on you. Support commissioning and start-up of new lines as we expand. Follow all lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, and safety requirements, and help build those programs out. What We're Looking For Two or more years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production plant. Packaging, printing, plastics, food and beverage, automotive, or textiles all translate well. Strong mechanical troubleshooting. You can read a fault, find the actual cause, and make the repair rather than reset the machine and hope.
Working knowledge of pneumatics:
cylinders, valves, regulators, air preparation, and vacuum. Comfort around industrial robotics and automated equipment. You do not need to program from scratch, but you should be able to work through fault codes, recover a robot to home, and make mechanical and timing adjustments with confidence. Practical experience with sensors, and the judgment to know when something needs adjusting versus replacing. Hand and power tools, precision measuring tools, and basic fabrication. Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals. Basic electrical troubleshooting to the component level. Ability to safely check a circuit, trace a wiring fault, and replace a switch, relay, or sensor. Discipline to work a preventive maintenance schedule and keep records, not just react to breakdowns. Willingness to run production and work the line when the machines are healthy. This is not a role that waits for something to break. Screen printing experience is not required and we will train you on our process. Clear communication. You document what you did so the next shift is not guessing. Comfortable working through a machine
HMI:
reading fault codes, adjusting timing and sensor parameters, and recovering a machine to a known good state. Technical diploma or certificate in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field is a plus. Equivalent hands-on experience is equally welcome. Shift 2nd Shift, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility for repairs, installs, and coverage. Compensation $28 to $31 per hour, depending on experience. What to Expect The plant floor runs hot and can be noisy. This is an on-your-feet role with lifting, reaching, and time spent inside and underneath equipment. You will be working on a mix of imported automated printing lines and robotics, which means some of the documentation and vendor support comes from overseas. Some of the answers do not exist yet, and part of the job is figuring them out and then writing them down.
Pay:
$28.00 - $31.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
