Job Description

Electrical Technician, Automation Location:
Greenville, SC Full-time Reports to: Project Engineer (Fabrication and Commissioning) Position Summary The Electrical Technician, Automation is responsible for the electrical assembly, wiring, installation, and testing of control panels and field devices for Daedalus Industrial's custom automation equipment and systems. Reporting to the Project Engineer (FabricationCommissioning), this position supports equipment fabrication through startup and commissioning while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and workmanship . Key Responsibilities Assemble and wire industrial control panels according to electrical drawings and company standards. Install and terminate PLCs, I/O, drives, power supplies, relays, safety devices, terminal blocks, and other control components. Wire motors, sensors, actuators, operator stations, safety devices, instrumentation, and other field-mounted equipment. Install and route power, control, and communication cabling on custom machines and automation systems. Read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams. Perform point-to-point verification, continuity checks, and electrical checkout prior to system startup. Troubleshoot and correct electrical wiring and component issues during fabrication, FAT, installation, and commissioning. Support equipment installation, startup, FAT, and SAT activities as required. Document field modifications and communicate drawing changes to the Project Engineer. Identify and communicate material shortages, design conflicts, and constructability issues. Maintain high standards for electrical workmanship, organization, and safety. Work collaboratively with Project Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Controls Engineers, and mechanical assembly personnel. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or automation preferred. 2+ years of industrial electrical, control panel, machine wiring, or automation experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Experience with industrial control components, sensors, motors, drives, and automation equipment. Proficiency with electrical hand tools and test equipment. Familiarity with
NEC, NFPA
70E, and UL 508A practices preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with engineering and project teams. Working Conditions Work is performed in fabrication, machine assembly, and customer-site environments. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work around industrial equipment for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. PPE required as appropriate. Periodic travel and overtime may be required for installation and commissioning activities.
