Temp The Final Assembly Operator plays a critical role in the production of high-precision fiber optic connectors. This position is responsible for the final assembly, testing, and quality inspection of fiber optic components to ensure they meet strict performance, reliability, and customer specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-focused, and experienced working with delicate optical products in a cleanroom or manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform final assembly of fiber optic connectors, including termination, polishing, bonding, and alignment of optical fibers. Install and secure components such as ferrules, boots, housings, and dust caps using specialized tools and fixtures. Conduct in-process and final quality inspections using microscopes, interferometers, optical power meters, and visual inspection criteria. Perform optical testing including insertion loss (IL), return loss (RL), and end-face geometry measurements. Follow detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Accurately record production data, test results, and traceability information in the manufacturing execution system. Identify and report defects or process deviations; participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions. Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to 5S and cleanroom protocols. Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to support new product introductions and process improvements. Meet daily production targets while maintaining high quality standards. Follow all safety guidelines and company policies. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification in electronics, optics, or manufacturing preferred. 1-3 years of experience in assembly or manufacturing, preferably in fiber optics, electronics, or precision mechanical assembly. Experience with fiber optic termination, polishing, and testing is highly desirable. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and visual quality standards. Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for working with small, delicate parts. Basic computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office or equivalent). Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar) is a plus. Key Skills and Competencies Attention to detail and commitment to producing zero-defect products. Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods. Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to follow strict processes while suggesting improvements. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) for fine detail work. Manual dexterity to handle parts smaller than 1mm. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally. Willingness to work in a controlled manufacturing environment (smock, gloves, hairnet, etc.).
