Gate Operator Technician (Full-Time)
Location:
Southern Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Madison, Fort Atkinson region)
Compensation:
$38,000
  • $60,000/year ($18
  • $29/hr based on experience) + Overtime + Benefits About the Role We're hiring a skilled Gate Operator Technician to join our growing team.
You'll install, service, and maintain automatic gate systems and access control equipment across the southern Wisconsin area. This is a full-time role with consistent workload, growth potential, and a team that values hard work, trade skills, and loyalty. What You'll Do Install and service automatic gate operator systems (sliding, swinging, barrier arm, cantilever, etc.) Handle wiring and diagnostics for low
  • and high-voltage systems Integrate access control systems (keypads, loop detectors, remotes, safety devices) Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems in the field Perform regular maintenance to ensure code compliance (UL325, ASTM F2200) Work independently and professionally at job sites across southern Wisconsin Document all work accurately and follow safety protocols
What We're Looking For Required:
3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Gate operator installation or service
  • Overhead door systems
  • Access control
  • Low-voltage electrical (security, alarm, fire, etc.
) Valid driver's license and clean driving record Working knowledge of how to use a multimeter for diagnostics Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand/power tools Ability to read blueprints/schematics and diagnose issues independently Dependability and strong communication in a customer-facing role Criminal history may be considered based on client needs, including government contracts Background checks and/or drug screening may be required depending on project or client site
Preferred:
Certified Gate Automation Technician (CGAT) or IDEA certification Experience with LiftMaster, Linear, DoorKing, Viking, FAAC, or similar brands Welding/fabrication or light concrete work Supervisory or small crew leadership experience Willingness to train or mentor apprentices in the future
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
$38000
  • $60,000/year ($18
  • $29/hr based on experience)
Overtime Pay:
Regular OT available based on project load
