ASH - Hardware Design (EE)
Co-op Summary/Objective:
Samtec is the global $1B+ technology leader for high-speed connectivity solutions. Samtec is seeking a self-driven and passionate Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Hardware Design Engineer. This position is for an electrical engineering student who has a passion for learning new tools and designing unique electronic hardware. These designs support all facets of Samtec including marketing, engineering, and production teams across the world. We use state of the art industry tool design suites, working closely with Signal Integrity (SI) engineers to build next-gen hardware. Expect to perform every aspect of design including upfront schematic work to hands-on bring-up and validation in the lab.
Responsibilities:
  • Brainstorming preliminary concepts with engineering and marketing teams
  • Designing and developing printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Collaborating with Signal Integrity engineer and Layout designers
  • Working closely with Software engineers
  • Documenting test plans and test results
  • Overseeing the manufacturing and assembly of prototypes
  • Testing and bring-up of systems
Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are a must
  • Quick learner
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of digital and analog circuits
  • Familiar with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Orcad, Allegro….)
  • Familiar with electrical lab test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope…)
  • Scripting/Programming language knowledge is a plus SAMTEC, Inc.
