Job Description

Job Title:
Electrical Engineer Job Description This role focuses on the design, development, installation, and optimization of complex multi-phase high voltage power systems, primarily at 480V up to 400 amps. You will engineer and support systems such as wiring design and installation, variable frequency drives, generator sets, load banks, industrial process controllers, and switchgear. Initially, you will contribute to the continued development of reformer and reactor skid systems and their sub-systems, and later transition to motorsports-related projects, including ECU development, starters, alternators, and sensors. The position is highly hands-on and offers the opportunity to work on novel, complex engineering projects from concept through production in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. Responsibilities Design and implement high voltage, multi-phase power electronic systems, including 480V systems up to 400 amps. Engineer microgrid power management solutions involving generators and motors, including transitions between shore power supplies. Develop and oversee wiring design, harness design, and electrical system hardware installation for complex industrial systems. Install, commission, and optimize variable frequency drives, generator sets, load banks, industrial process controllers, and switchgear. Lead and support the continued development of reformer and reactor skid systems and their sub-systems, from early design through prototyping, testing, and production. Contribute to motorsports projects, including development and integration of ECUs, starters, alternators, sensors, and other race engine mechatronic devices. Implement and manage instrumentation, control, and calibration systems, including CAN communication, synchronization strategies, and power electronics control. Design, manufacture, and document wiring harnesses and associated electrical components. Set up and use data acquisition systems, analyze collected data, and apply insights to improve system performance and reliability. Prepare detailed technical documentation such as specifications, wiring and harness diagrams, test plans, and technical reports. Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of requirements and solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronics and mechatronic systems into larger mechanical and control systems. Lead or participate in electronics and mechatronics projects, including controls and electrical engineering initiatives across various programs. Consult on building and facility issues related to power electronics and electrical systems as needed. Stay current with industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies in power electronics, controls, and mechatronics, and incorporate relevant advancements into designs. Work enthusiastically and independently on complex, novel engineering challenges with minimal oversight while contributing effectively in team settings. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of high voltage and multi-phase power electronics. Professional experience in engineering 480V systems up to 400 amps, including microgrid power management with generators and motors. Hands-on experience with wiring, electrical system hardware installation, and troubleshooting in practical systems. Proficiency with instrumentation, control, and calibration, including CAN communication protocols and synchronization strategies. Experience with data acquisition systems and data analysis for performance and reliability improvements. Ability to design and manufacture wiring harnesses and associated electrical components. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation. Proven ability to lead and participate effectively in team environments. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and to quickly learn new technologies and tools. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $170000.00/yr. Medical/Dental/Vision 10 days PTO but will be competitive with existing schedule 1 week sick time 3 days shut down at Thanksgiving 1 week shutdown at Christmas Will look at relocation bonus/support No sponsorship candidates Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Charlotte,NC.
