Job Title:
Senior Electrical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Senior-level Electrical Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license. This role focuses on leading and delivering electrical design solutions for healthcare facilities, including hospitals, outpatient centers, and specialty medical environments. The position involves working on acute care hospitals, surgical centers, medical office buildings, and infrastructure upgrades, emphasizing renovation projects in occupied facilities. Responsibilities Lead and review electrical system designs for healthcare facilities. Coordinate power, lighting, and life safety systems. Design and coordinate building control systems, normal and emergency power distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm systems, access control systems, and low-voltage systems. Manage projects or multiple workstreams. Support construction and resolve field issues. Mentor junior engineers and participate in quality control and technical leadership efforts. Act as Engineer of Record and ensure compliance with IES standards. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Professional Engineer (PE) License. Minimum 7 years of experience in the building design consulting industry (8 years preferred). Advanced proficiency in core electrical engineering principles, including circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electrical and electronic systems. Experience with Autocad, Revit, NFPA standards, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI). Advanced proficiency in Master Specification editing and tools such as eSPECS, Adobe, and Bluebeam Revu. Additional Skills & Qualifications Healthcare experience preferred but not required. Familiarity with energy-efficient system design and healthcare sustainability goals. Experience with critical power systems, redundancy, and reliability planning. Involvement in client interviews and business development. Work Environment This role is fully in-office with earned flexibility over time—remote work is not part of the position. The office is a professional, design-focused engineering environment where Senior engineers lead teams in person and meet with clients face-to-face. The workspace is quiet and structured to support detailed design, coordination, and technical review, with dedicated workstations equipped for full design delivery, including multiple monitors and access to Revit/BIM and engineering tools. The office includes project rooms and meeting spaces for internal coordination and client discussions, supporting sustainable delivery and work-life balance. The environment is built for engineers who want to lead projects and solve meaningful problems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rock Island, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $175000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
