The Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical systems and automated equipment throughout a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant electrical infrastructure, motor controls, automation systems, and production equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, extensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems, and experience supporting preventive and predictive maintenance programs. This individual will work closely with operations and engineering teams to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, and maintain compliance with
OSHA, NFPA
70E, and all plant safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Electrical Maintenance Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems including 120V, 240V, 480V, and medium-voltage equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical issues on motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, control panels, and power distribution systems. Install, wire, and troubleshoot motor starters including across-the-line, wye-delta, soft starters, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals. Install and maintain conduit, wiring, cable trays, disconnects, and electrical devices in accordance with NEC and plant standards. Perform electrical testing including voltage, continuity, insulation resistance, and motor testing. Support plant power distribution systems and assist with safe lockout/tagout and arc flash procedures. Automation & Controls Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, and automated production systems. Diagnose communication issues involving industrial networks and control systems. Install and troubleshoot VFDs and associated motor control circuits. Assist with programming modifications and equipment upgrades as needed. Support control panel wiring, instrumentation integration, and automation improvements. Reliability & Continuous Improvement Execute preventive maintenance schedules and document completed work using CMMS software. Participate in root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability. Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Utilize infrared thermography and other predictive maintenance tools to identify potential failures before they occur. Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history. Safety & Compliance Follow all OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements, and company safety policies. Perform lockout/tagout procedures and maintain a safe work environment at all times. Participate in safety audits, hazard assessments, and continuous safety improvement initiatives. Serve as a mentor to junior technicians and promote best practices in electrical troubleshooting and maintenance. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or processing environment. Strong experience troubleshooting 480V three-phase electrical systems, motor controls, and industrial automation equipment. Experience with PLC troubleshooting and VFD installation/configuration preferred. Working knowledge of electrical schematics, NEC standards, and industrial safety practices. Experience with CMMS systems for work orders and preventive maintenance activities. Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent military or industrial experience will also be considered. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
