This position oversees the entire lifecycle of facility reliability , including identifying operational issues, performing root cause analysis, developing and implementing engineering solutions, supporting commissioning and startup, and maintaining long-term operational stability. The role is grounded in close interaction with operating equipment and facilities, applying engineering judgment and field experience to deliver practical improvements and sustainable plant operation. The Electrical Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and controls that support the facility's operations. This role ensures reliable power distribution, compliance with safety and environmental standards, and minimal downtime for production, particularly within an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) distillation environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities A. Electrical and Utility Reliability Management
- Establish, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance systems for utility and process facilities.
- Analyze equipment failures, abnormal operations, and downtime events to determine root causes and develop measures to prevent recurrence.
- Lead engineering-based initiatives to improve equipment reliability, availability, and facility performance. B. Process and Utility Facility Improvement
- Perform and support modification, improvement, and expansion of utility and process equipment.
- Review designs and provide technical support across multiple disciplines, including: § Electrical systems (primary responsibility) § Instrumentation and control systems § Mechanical equipment § Piping systems § Construction and civil engineering interfaces
- Review applicable regulations, standards, and licensing requirements and support compliance related to electrical and hazardous-area installations. C. Construction, Startup, and Commissioning Support
- Define technical scope and establish construction plans for electrical and utility-related projects.
- Provide on-site technical support and coordination with contractors and vendors.
- Execute and support commissioning, startup, and performance verification activities. D. Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering
- Design and manage high-voltage and low-voltage incoming power facilities.
- Design and manage electrical distribution systems, including distribution panels and motor control centers (MCCs).
- Manage secondary electrical systems, control wiring, and power interfaces.
- Select and specify instrumentation devices, including flow, pressure, level, and temperature instruments.
- Support production and utility control systems, including: § Basic PLC system design§ Review and interpretation of control logic§ Troubleshooting and operational support E. Asset, Drawing, and Energy Management
- Manage spare parts selection, procurement, and maintenance history for electrical and utility equipment.
- Maintain and update engineering documentation, including P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, and loop drawings.
- Analyze usage of electricity, water, gas and support energy efficiency improvement initiatives. F. Electrical Operation and Maintenance Support
- Operate and monitor switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS systems, and electrical control panels.
- Ensure stable electrical supply to production, distillation, packaging, and storage areas.
- Perform routine inspections, maintain operational logs, and update maintenance records.
- Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot motors, drives, PLC-related issues, and electrical circuits, and coordinate vendor support as needed.
- Inspect wiring, breakers, grounding systems, and lighting to maintain safe and compliant conditions.
- Comply with NFPA 70E, OSHA, NEC, and site-specific electrical safety requirements.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hot work permit procedures.
- Support safe operation in hazardous locations (Class I, Division I / II).
- Respond to power outages, abnormal operating conditions, startups, shutdowns, and emergency situations. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Experience with industrial electrical systems in utility, process, manufacturing, or similar facilities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documents.
- Strong troubleshooting capability and ability to support operating facilities.
- Ability to manage electrical systems from both engineering and operational perspectives. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chemical, process, manufacturing, or utility plant environments.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
- Experience supporting construction, commissioning, or facility improvement projects.
- Background in reliability improvement or energy efficiency initiatives. Physical Demands

- On-call, after-hours, or weekend support may be required during outages or critical events.
