Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Chief Engineer to lead our facilities and engineering operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across our manufacturing and industrial facilities. Your leadership will ensure all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to engineering troubleshooting, project management, and team supervision to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Duties Lead and manage facilities maintenance teams, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards. Oversee the repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and low/high voltage systems. Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) tools to plan maintenance activities and track work orders. Supervise the troubleshooting of complex engineering issues related to mechanical systems, electrical circuits, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial equipment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations by conducting regular safety audits, training sessions, and implementing best practices for industrial maintenance. Manage projects related to facilities upgrades or new installations from planning through execution while maintaining budget and timeline controls. Conduct inspections using tools like ohmmeters for electrical testing or other diagnostic equipment to diagnose system faults accurately. Coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs such as HVAC system repair or high voltage electrical work. Develop preventive maintenance schedules to optimize equipment lifespan and reduce downtime. Maintain detailed documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, schematics updates, and safety procedures. To be on call Monday - Friday after the work day Skills Extensive management experience leading facilities maintenance or engineering teams within manufacturing or industrial environments. Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in mechanical systems repair including HVAC, plumbing systems maintenance and repair. Proficiency in electrical systems experience covering low voltage and high voltage circuits; ability to interpret schematics confidently. Skilled in troubleshooting engineering issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; adept at diagnosing complex mechanical or electrical failures. Experience managing facilities management programs using CMMS platforms; excellent project management skills for large-scale upgrades or installations. Deep understanding of safety regulations relevant to industrial maintenance environments; ability to enforce compliance effectively. Supervising experience in managing diverse teams while fostering a safety-first culture focused on continuous improvement. Strong communication skills in English; capable of preparing reports, technical documentation, and training materials clearly. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in manufacturing automation; familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting control systems.
