PROJECT OVERVIEW

AAAPlus Automation is supplying instrumentation and controls for a pump-station disinfection-system improvement project. The selected engineer will help integrate the new equipment and control sequences into the existing Modicon PLC/RTU, local HMI and District SCADA system. This is an operating water/wastewater facility, so the work must be carefully reviewed, documented, tested and coordinated before any field download or cutover.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review the contract plans, specifications, existing

PLC/HMI/SCADA

programs, control-panel drawings, I/O lists and approved equipment submittals.

• Confirm the existing Modicon PLC/RTU model, firmware and programming-software version before making changes.
• Develop and modify PLC logic for the disinfection process and associated equipment.
• Add and map all required analog, digital and communications points.
• Integrate chlorine residual monitoring, ammonia/monochloramine monitoring, level instruments, flow switches, leak-detection devices and related alarms/status points.
• Configure communications with intelligent instruments and local equipment controllers using the required Modbus RTU/RS-485, Modbus TCP or other documented protocols.
• Develop or modify HMI and SCADA screens, alarms, status indications, setpoints, trends and operator controls in accordance with the District's existing standards.
• Implement operating sequences, permissives, interlocks, alarm handling, equipment shutdown actions and automatic restart requirements shown in the plans and specifications.
• Support offline testing, simulation, I/O verification, FAT/SAT, loop checks, controlled field downloads, startup, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with AAAPlus, HPS Mechanical, electricians, instrument vendors and District personnel.
• Maintain complete backups and provide commented source code, change logs, I/O documentation, alarm lists, test records and final as-built files.
• Avoid unapproved changes to existing operating logic and follow formal backup, review, download and rollback procedures.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Strong hands-on experience programming Schneider Electric/Modicon PLCs, preferably M340, M580 or the specific legacy platform used at the site.
• Proficiency with EcoStruxure Control Expert/Unity Pro or the applicable Modicon programming software.
• Demonstrated HMI and SCADA development/integration experience.
• Experience modifying an existing operating

PLC/SCADA

system, not only developing new standalone machines.

• Strong knowledge of analog and digital I/O, instrumentation, Modbus communications, alarms, permissives, interlocks and process-control sequences.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, control narratives, specifications and I/O lists.
• Experience with controlled commissioning and troubleshooting at an operating industrial facility.
• Ability and willingness to travel to the Murrieta/San Diego area as needed.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Water or wastewater treatment, pump stations, chemical-feed or disinfection systems.
• Integration of Hach analyzers/controllers or similar water-quality instruments.
• Public-works documentation, testing, training and commissioning requirements.
• Experience coordinating with municipal operators and existing District SCADA standards.
