Job Description

Wire Designer Engineering Design / Drafting Wilmington, Delaware Contract Mar 23, 2026 Job Summary A global engineering and design organization is hiring a Designer to support substation projects within a collaborative project team environment. This role works closely with engineers and other designers to develop detailed electrical design deliverables, incorporating engineering input and vendor information while ensuring accuracy and adherence to technical standards. Responsibilities Prepare electrical schematics based on input from substation design and protection and control engineers Develop one-line diagrams and single line relaying and metering diagrams Create point-to-point wiring diagrams Produce AC and DC schematic diagrams Develop equipment interconnection wiring diagrams and cable schedules Provide technical guidance and mentoring to new designers Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables Conduct walkdowns at client substation facilities
Required Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience 3+ years of experience in detailed wiring design Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used in producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate equipment to a technical design Ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task effectively
