09/16/2026 Job Description Job Description AgeWave Solutions is looking for a unique combination of CAD expert, problem solver, and software developer to join our growing architecture and structural engineering firm. This is not a traditional drafting position and it is not a traditional software development position. We are looking for someone who understands how architectural and engineering drawings are actually produced, and who can identify repetitive processes, bottlenecks, quality-control opportunities, and manual tasks that can be improved through AutoCAD customization, programming, automation, and better systems. What You'll Work On You will work directly with our leadership, CAD production, architecture, engineering, and software teams to improve how work moves through AgeWave.

Responsibilities may include:

Develop AutoCAD automation tools using AutoLISP, C#/.NET, Python, AutoCAD APIs, scripts, and related technologies. Build and improve dynamic blocks, intelligent content, templates, standards, and automated drawing workflows. Build automated tools that compare project requirements or contracts against drawings to identify discrepancies. Develop automated QA/QC and plan-checking tools. Extract information from existing CAD drawings and convert legacy drawing knowledge into structured, reusable data. Connect AutoCAD workflows with external databases, APIs, our ERP, and other internal systems. Improve drawing consistency, accuracy, speed, and standardization. Work with production staff to understand how they actually use CAD and develop practical solutions around their workflows. Help document and train the team on newly developed tools and systems. Evaluate emerging technologies, that could improve our production environment. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has an unusual combination of AEC production knowledge and programming ability. Strong candidates may have experience with: CAD /

Design Technology:

AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, dynamic blocks, attributes, external references, drawing standards, templates, CAD data extraction, and high-volume drawing production. Programming /

Automation:

AutoLISP, C#/.NET, Python, Auto

CAD .NET

API or ObjectARX concepts, APIs, databases, scripting, workflow automation, regression testing, and data processing. AEC /

Production:

Architectural, structural, fabrication, residential, commercial, manufacturing, or construction-document production experience. A degree in architecture or computer science is not required. We care much more about demonstrated ability to understand a production problem and build a working solution. You May Be a Great Fit If You find yourself looking at a repetitive 20-minute CAD task and thinking: "Why are we doing this manually?" You enjoy digging into an existing workflow, understanding why it works the way it does, and then figuring out how to make it faster, more reliable, and easier to scale. You are equally comfortable talking with a drafter about dynamic blocks, discussing an engineering workflow, and opening an IDE to build the solution. Other opportunities include, drawing-data extraction, CAD standards enforcement, automated annotations, drawing comparisons, batch processing, and ERP/CAD integrations.
