CAD Technician Shape the Future of Energy Infrastructure Are you a detail-oriented CAD professional looking to apply your drafting expertise to meaningful projects that power communities? Join a collaborative, employee-owned engineering team where your work directly supports the design and development of critical electric substations, distribution systems, and transmission infrastructure. In this role, you'll leverage AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other industry-standard tools to create and maintain high-quality engineering drawings while partnering with experienced engineers, designers, and technical specialists. What You'll Do Create and modify detailed electric substation, distribution, and transmission line drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related CAD tools. Develop layouts, sketches, maps, and engineering drawings that meet project specifications and industry standards. Apply established CAD standards and drafting practices to deliver accurate, consistent, and high-quality documentation. Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and technical professionals to understand design intent and implement revisions. Maintain organized project files, drawing packages, and technical documentation. Support engineering and design teams by providing timely updates and revisions throughout project lifecycles. Assist with documentation, reporting, and project coordination using Microsoft Office applications. Ensure exceptional attention to detail to minimize errors and support project success. Take on additional drafting and design responsibilities as project needs evolve. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Associate degree, technical school certification, or equivalent combination of education and drafting/design experience. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software. Ability to prepare and interpret technical drawings, layouts, sketches, and engineering graphics. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic understanding of engineering, architectural, or utility industry workflows. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow established drafting standards. Preferred Qualifications 1+ years of experience in an engineering consulting, architecture/engineering (A/E), or utility environment. Experience supporting electric utility, power delivery, substation, transmission, or distribution projects. Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation. Experience working with a major utility company. Familiarity with utility drafting standards and engineering documentation practices. Work Environment This position is primarily office-based, with a strong preference for candidates who can work on-site in one of our New England offices alongside our Protection & Control (P&C) team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford, NH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.85/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
