Metrics Works / MES About MES Metrics Works is the manufacturing arm of Metrics Holdings — a global organization operating across multiple countries with a track record of building high-performance production environments from the ground up. Our sister entity MES Inc. (mesinc.net) is an established supply chain and engineering solutions firm serving major North American OEMs. Project 2402 is the launch of a Columbus, Ohio manufacturing plant producing aluminum components for Eaton, Schneider Electric, Siemens and other safety-critical components used in load centers, panelboards, data center PDUs, EV charging cabinets, and solar/battery energy storage systems.
This is a high-growth market:
the North American addressable market exceeds $675M, driven by re-electrification and data center expansion. We are in production ramp now, with ~$10M in initial annual revenue and significant capacity for volume surges. The equipment is purpose-built Special Purpose Machinery (SPM) designed to Metrics Works' proprietary specifications and manufactured in China. This is not off-the-shelf equipment. It is precision automation designed for our SKUs, and the PLC Programmer who joins us will be the expert who owns it — from commissioning to continuous improvement. Position Overview We are hiring a skilled PLC Programmer / Automation Engineer to be the control systems foundation of our Columbus plant launch. You will work directly with our engineering and operations leadership to stand up automated production lines, integrate Chinese-built SPM equipment, and build the data infrastructure that drives our operational KPIs. This is a startup environment inside a global organization. You will have real ownership — not a queue of tickets. The decisions you make in the first 6 months will define how this factory runs for the next decade. Key Responsibilities PLC Programming & Design Develop, test, and implement PLC control logic (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) Create and maintain I/O configurations, wiring diagrams, and system documentation System Monitoring & Control Monitor plant operations via PLC systems Track key parameters such as speed and distance Operate and adjust equipment through Delta PLC interfaces Troubleshooting & Maintenance Diagnose and resolve system faults to minimize downtime Perform preventive maintenance and ensure system reliability System Integration Integrate PLC systems with SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication networks (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP) Collaborate with engineering teams on system upgrades and deployments Reporting & Documentation Install sensors and IoTs to get productivity data from machines in addition to OEE, Yield, and Scrap. Maintain detailed shift logs, alarms, and performance data Ensure accurate documentation of all system changes and configurations Collaboration, Communication & Continuous Improvement Work with project managers, process engineers, and plant personnel Support training for operators on PLC-controlled systems Drive efficienty improvements using real-time data insights Safety & Compliance Ensure all safety protocols and interlocks are functioning Respond promptly to alarms and emergency conditions
Qualifications Required:
3-5+ years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) Experience with SCADA and HMI systems Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP) Experience with PLC, Drives, a Plus Experience working with Chinese equipment and vendors, a Plus Strong Troubleshooting and analytical skills, a must Why Join Metrics Works?
