Job Title:
BIM Designer Job Description We are seeking an experienced BIM Modeler III to join our VDC Engineering team. You will support project teams by creating and maintaining accurate 3D models from engineering drawings, updating existing models, and entering data such as parameters and properties. You will also generate basic documentation including plans and sections while adhering to company BIM standards. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn coordination software like Revit. This role offers the chance to work under the guidance of senior modelers or BIM Leads to build foundational modeling and collaboration skills. Responsibilities Coordinate between 2D shop drawings, construction documents, and 3D models to ensure alignment and accuracy. Develop accurate and detailed 3D Revit models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring proper routing, clearances, and constructability. Apply company BIM and VDC standards to ensure consistent modeling practices, proper file organization, and model quality control. Create plans, sections, elevations, sheets, views, and details to support design documentation, shop drawings, coordination packages, and field installation. Collaborate with project engineers, senior modelers, and VDC team members to support accurate and timely deliverables. Incorporate feedback and design changes efficiently from project engineers and VDC leadership. Maintain model integrity through version control, updates, and accurate as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Assist with model-based quantity takeoffs and support preconstruction and fabrication efforts as needed. Essential Skills Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. Experience working on data centers or mission-critical projects. Experience working on MEP lighting and power systems. 4+ years of Revit experience with a focus on MEP or architectural modeling. Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems. Experience working with LOD 250 and higher models. Familiarity with clash detection and coordination workflows. Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural drawings accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Experience working on data center, commercial, or industrial projects is preferred. Knowledge of fabrication-level modeling, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or other related software tools is preferred. Work Environment Employees can work 100% remotely unless local to Phoenix, AZ, or Austin, TX, where a hybrid work schedule is available. The brand-new office in AZ on Tempe Town Lake has a hotel-like feel. Approved states for placement include AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IN, MI, MO, NV, OK, SC, TX, WA, WV, and UT.
