Wasilla, Alaska Company Description K Corp Reliance Company (KRC) is an Alaska-based engineering and inspections firm specializing in fuel systems, industrial facilities, utility infrastructure, and mission-critical facilities throughout Alaska and globally. Our team provides engineering, design, inspections, construction administration, commissioning, and owner's representative services for government, commercial, industrial, and energy-sector clients. General Functions KRC is seeking a Designer with strong Autodesk Plant 3D experience to support industrial, fueling, and infrastructure projects throughout Alaska, the United States, and other locations supporting our clients. The Mid-Level Designer will work as part of multidisciplinary project teams to develop accurate, constructible design models and drawings for piping, equipment, and industrial facility systems. This position will coordinate closely with KRC's engineers, project managers, designers, field personnel, and other technical disciplines to translate engineering requirements, field conditions, and project criteria into high-quality design deliverables. This position may be performed remotely for the right candidate, provided the individual can effectively collaborate with KRC's Alaska-based project teams and meet project communication, schedule, and document-control requirements. Roles and Responsibilities- Develop and maintain Autodesk Plant 3D models for piping, equipment, and industrial facility systems.
- Perform spec-driven piping layout and routing in accordance with project requirements and applicable engineering standards.
- Model and place pumps, tanks, valves, piping components, equipment, supports, and other facility elements.
- Generate and revise orthographic drawings, piping plans, sections, details, and isometric drawings from Plant 3D models.
- Assist with Plant 3D project setup, specifications, catalogs, data management, and drawing organization.
- Interpret and incorporate information from P&IDs, engineering drawings, equipment datasheets, specifications, field documentation, and design criteria.
- Develop layouts that consider constructability, equipment access, maintenance clearances, operations, safety, and existing facility constraints.
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, controls, and process disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary model reviews, clash detection, and design verification activities.
- Revise models and drawings based on engineering calculations, design comments, redlines, client input, and field verification.
- Assist in resolving model conflicts and identifying potential constructability or coordination issues before issuance.
- Maintain drawing standards, model integrity, file organization, and project documentation in accordance with KRC procedures.
- Support development of design deliverables at various project stages, including conceptual, intermediate, final, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers to meet project schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements.
- Manage multiple concurrent design assignments while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Participate in virtual project meetings, design reviews, and coordination meetings as required.
- Support field personnel and engineers with drawing revisions, as-built documentation, and record drawings.
- Perform other design and project support duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
- 3-7 years of experience in piping design, industrial design, plant layout, or a related discipline within the oil and gas, chemical, power, industrial, fueling, or similar industries.
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Plant 3D, including:
- Piping model creation
- Equipment modeling and placement
- Spec-driven pipe routing
- Orthographic drawing generation
- Isometric drawing generation
- Project setup and data management
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, specifications, and equipment datasheets.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry standards and design practices, including ASME, API, ANSI, and related standards.
- Experience coordinating with mechanical, structural, civil, process, and other engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with clash detection, model review, interdisciplinary coordination, and design verification processes.
- Experience revising designs based on engineering direction, redlines, client comments, and field-verified conditions.
- Strong understanding of industrial plant layout principles, including equipment access, maintenance clearances, constructability, and safety considerations.
- Ability to independently organize and manage multiple design assignments and meet established project deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, coordinated design documents.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully within multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed project teams. Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Leica Cloudworx, AutoCAD, Autodesk Navisworks, ReCap and other Autodesk design and coordination tools.
- Experience with fuel storage and distribution systems, tank farms, pump stations, terminals, or other petroleum infrastructure.
- Experience developing drawings for existing or brownfield industrial facilities.
- Experience incorporating laser scan, point cloud, survey, or field-collected information into design models.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense, federal government, or other public-sector design projects.
- Experience working in remote or geographically challenging project environments.
- Familiarity with applicable UFC, UFGS, or other federal design criteria is a plus.
- Experience using 3D laser scanners and survey equipment for facility as-builting a plus.
Pay:
$80,000.00- $95,000.
