Job Title:
Electrical Designer Job Description This role focuses on hands-on electrical design work using AutoCAD Electrical to develop detailed control panel design drawings that support complex client projects. The Electrical Designer produces high-quality, standards-driven deliverables in a collaborative engineering environment, working closely with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers. The position emphasizes disciplined design practices, strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures, and consistent application of drawing standards and codes. Responsibilities Prepare detailed control panel drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, including enclosure front views, back plate layouts, detailed views, and cutout details. Develop associated wiring diagrams and provide checking support for design deliverables to ensure accuracy and completeness. Conduct all design activities in accordance with regimented quality assurance and quality control procedures. Produce and revise complete drawing packages in line with project specifications, applicable codes, and relevant standards. Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to ensure accurate, integrated, and consistent design outputs. Maintain and apply established drawing standards, including title blocks, revision control practices, and documentation protocols. Support formal and informal design reviews and incorporate redlines and feedback into updated drawing packages. Collaborate with project teams to meet schedule requirements while maintaining high design quality and compliance with standards. Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical with a minimum of three (3) years of experience utilizing the software. At least three (3) years of experience in a related electrical or control panel design field. Ability to prepare detailed control panel drawings, including enclosure layouts, cutout details, and wiring diagrams. Experience working within structured quality assurance and quality control processes. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint. Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Capability to manage conflict professionally while balancing multiple schedules and priorities. Eligibility to work on client projects that require U.S. citizenship. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent education. Experience with control panel design or industrial electrical design is preferred. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) or similar electrical standards is preferred. Experience coordinating with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers in a project environment. Ability to support design reviews, interpret redlines, and incorporate changes accurately and efficiently. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing standards-compliant, high-quality deliverables. Work Environment This position is based in an office environment with a hybrid or remote work option, providing flexibility to balance on-site and off-site work as project needs allow. The role involves extensive use of AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office applications to produce and manage drawing packages and project documentation. The work setting emphasizes collaboration with engineering and project teams, adherence to structured quality assurance and quality control procedures, and consistent application of established drawing standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Ridge, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00/hr.
