Job Description

OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is looking for an Electrical I&C Equipment Designer for our growing Aiken, SC office. This position supports Nuclear Services and Technology (NST) projects related to Department of Energy (DOE) work. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. This team specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials. Additional specialization includes the design of moderate hazard non-reactor nuclear facilities and facility upgrades. The ideal candidate will have a passion for electrical design, be able and willing to perform CAD as well as design of electrical and instrumentation/controls systems, be nimble in accepting a wide range of assignments both nuclear and non-nuclear and enjoy a team design environment. Pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00 per hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform design and layout of electrical, instrumentation, and controls equipment and wiring during the production of CAD documents. Work on a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design of low voltage and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, process equipment and instrumentation. Follow general outline of project objectives, requirements, and design approaches prescribed by staff. Under direct supervision of senior designers and engineers develop electrical and instrumentation designs and drawings for assigned projects. Develop electrical equipment layouts, cable tray and conduit routing plans and cable schedules. Develop instrument location plans and installation details. Develop instrument, PLC and DCS wiring drawings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. Excellent communication and writing skills. Must be able to meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
Microsoft Office:
Excel and Word. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of two (2) years of electrical I&C design experience. Associate's degree - Drafting/Design, Graphic Design or Technical College Certification or Equivalent Experience. MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit proficiency are beneficial but not required .
Experience using technical codes:
