About the Role We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Electrical Engineer to support hardware development, board bring-up, and electronic debugging across our embedded hardware platforms. In this role, you will contribute to the hardware lifecycle - from schematic capture and PCB layout to bench assembly, testing, and assisting with laboratory test setups and prototypes. Responsibilities Board Bring-Up & Testing:
Assist with initial hardware bring-up, signal validation, and functional testing for prototype and test systems.
Schematic Capture & PCB Layout:
Design and update mixed-signal schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts targeting low-voltage, microcontroller-based architectures.
Bench Debugging:
Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve hardware issues using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, signal generators).
Lab Experiment & Prototype Support:
Help build, maintain, and upgrade experimental lab test setups, custom test benches, and hardware prototypes.
Prototyping & Board Rework:
Perform fine-pitch hand soldering, component rework, and breadboarding/prototyping during design and testing phases.
Cross-Functional & Vendor Support:
Work alongside senior electrical, optics, and control systems engineers to integrate light-steering hardware, resolve cross-functional tradeoffs, fit-check enclosures, and coordinate with PCB manufacturing partners.
Mixed-Signal Circuit Design:
Support the design of analog sensing circuits, low-voltage power management, and digital microcontroller subsystems.
Qualifications Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) with 3-5 years of practical hardware design experience, including practical project experience taking electronic hardware from concept through functional testing.
PCB Design:
Proficiency in standard schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, or OrCAD).
Embedded & Serial Interfaces:
Solid foundational understanding of microcontroller architectures, their design, and common serial communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART).
Analog & Digital Electronics:
Strong working knowledge of low-voltage mixed-signal electronics, including analog sensor signal conditioning and power management circuits.
Lab Skills:
Practical hands-on debugging skills with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters) and comfortable with fine-pitch soldering and bench rework.
Mindset:
Proactive problem solver, eager to learn, with strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.
Preferred Skills Firmware & Scripting:
Basic familiarity with microcontroller firmware development (C/C++) or scripting for test automation/data collection (Python).
Optics Experience:
Exposure to optical systems, beam-steering hardware, transceivers, or optoelectronics integration is a plus.
Control Systems:
Familiarity with hardware control systems or feedback loops
