DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

: Be skilled in marine electronic systems, including installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and maintenance of shipboard electronic equipment. Be skilled in reading and interpreting electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, system drawings, and equipment specifications. Educate students using proper installation, diagnostics, calibration, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of marine electronic systems. Supervise and instruct students as they practice in electronic environments, providing real-time feedback to improve technical skills and system diagnostics. Remain current with industry technology, electronic systems, equipment, software, standards, and shipbuilding practices. Ensure that equipment is operational, troubleshooting issues and coordinating with technical support to maintain seamless instruction. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance. Exhibit a high degree of skill, precision, and attention to detail. Have excellent working knowledge of electronic diagnostic equipment, calibration instruments, testing devices, computers, software applications, and electronic tools essential to marine electronics. Maintain all documentation for training as required by AccelerateMS guidelines, MGCCC policies and procedures, and other governmental agencies and organizations. Perform duties independently and exercise a high degree of autonomy. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work in outdoor temperatures and industrial environments. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Workforce Solutions or college administration. Job Description The incumbent is responsible for preparing and teaching a full range of marine electronics techniques, including electronic theory, system installation, diagnostics, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance to non-credit workforce students/trainees as needed. Instruction may include shipboard communication systems, navigation equipment, sensors, control systems, and other electronic technologies used in modern shipbuilding. The incumbent will report to a Workforce Project Director. Mandatory Qualifications (M1) Minimum three years' full-time experience in marine electronics installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, or repair. (M2) Demonstrated competencies in reading electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications. (M3) Proficient with electronic testing, calibration, and diagnostic equipment and capable of operating and maintaining all electronics lab equipment. (M4) Knowledge of electronic systems, low-voltage systems, digital controls, and applicable industry standards. (M5) Demeanor, training, and skills necessary to provide effective instruction to a diverse group of individuals with varying degrees of previous experience. (M6) Proficient with computer and communication skills. Desirable Qualifications (D1) Relevant Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Technical Education, or related field. (D2) Experience working in shipbuilding or marine electronics. (D3) Experience working at a community college.
