Our work spans unmanned aircraft, counter-UAS, autonomy, communications, payload integration, maritime employment, high-rate manufacturing, and U.S. Government testing and fielding. The engineering team will work closely with F-Drones technical personnel in Europe while establishing configuration-controlled U.S. products, domestic supply-chain alternatives, and new U.S.-developed capabilities. Position Summary UDD Tech USA is seeking a Chief Engineer / Director of Systems Engineering to lead the technical development, integration, localization, and configuration management of UDD/F-Drones unmanned systems in the United States. This individual will serve as the senior U.S. engineering authority across unmanned aircraft, counter-UAS, maritime-integrated UAS, autonomy, communications, payloads, ground-control systems, and future U.S.-developed variants. Key Responsibilities Build and lead the UDD Tech USA engineering organization and serve as the senior technical authority for U.S. product configurations. Establish systems-engineering processes covering requirements, architecture, interface control, configuration management, design reviews, verification and validation, engineering change control, and technical risk. Develop configuration-controlled U.S. baselines for the F10, F11, Litavr interceptor family, supporting ground systems, payloads, and future U.S.-developed aircraft and variants. Coordinate transfer and validation of drawings, bills of material, software, firmware, specifications, test procedures, manufacturing data, and other technical information from F-Drones. Establish clear technical boundaries among existing F-Drones intellectual property, U.S.-created intellectual property, customer-funded development, and third-party technology. Lead U.S. component substitution and supply-chain localization while preserving system performance, safety, and configuration control. Own system-level integration across airframe, propulsion, avionics, RF/communications, payloads, autonomy, software, ground control, C2, and customer interfaces. Lead technical participation in Department of Defense competitions, demonstrations, exercises, production-readiness reviews, source selections, and customer evaluations. Coordinate directly with Government program offices, test organizations, ranges, integrators, suppliers, and industry partners. Establish product-improvement, obsolescence-management, lifecycle-support, and production-scale-up engineering plans. Lead technical readiness reviews before major Government events and ensure lessons learned are converted into engineering actions. Mentor engineering leads and build a durable U.S. technical bench capable of supporting multiple simultaneous programs. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline. 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably involving unmanned systems, aerospace, defense, robotics, missiles, autonomy, or complex electromechanical systems. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and programs. Strong systems-engineering background from requirements through production and fielding. Experience transitioning complex hardware/software products from development into repeatable production. Working knowledge of hardware/software integration, configuration management, formal test, root-cause analysis, and corrective action. Ability to communicate effectively with operators, production personnel, senior executives, suppliers, and Government customers. Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for periods of up to two weeks. Preferred Qualifications DoD acquisition, defense-industry, or military test/operations experience. UAS, counter-UAS, missile, loitering-munition, maritime unmanned-system, or autonomous-system experience. Familiarity with modular open systems, TAK, MAVLink, tactical C2, or related interoperability standards. Experience with DCMA production-readiness reviews, environmental qualification, flight test, weapons integration, or fielding. Experience leading distributed U.S. and allied/foreign engineering organizations. Active or prior U.S. security clearance. Travel and Field Operations This is a hands-on defense engineering role. Domestic and international travel is required, including travel to Europe and to U.S. Government exercises, demonstrations, test events, customer evaluations, and onsite training. Individual trips may last up to two weeks and may involve military installations, test ranges, austere field locations, or maritime sites. Export Control and Government Access UDD Tech USA develops and manufactures systems subject to U.S. export-control and Government-contracting requirements. Candidates must be eligible to access technical information and facilities required for their assigned duties under applicable U.S. law and must be able to obtain any customer, installation, range, or program access required for the position. Operating Environment UDD operates at the intersection of rapid product development and high-rate defense manufacturing. These roles require engineers who are comfortable working at a design workstation, on a production floor, at a flight range, and alongside operators during a Government exercise. The objective is not simply to build prototypes, but to develop systems that can be manufactured at scale, repeatedly pass acceptance testing, and perform reliably in demanding operational environments.
