Position Summary Promaxo is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Field Service Engineer/Technician to support installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of its point-of-care MRI systems at customer clinical sites. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations, this hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong technical troubleshooting capability and electromechanical skill, and ensures Promaxo's MRI-guided prostate biopsy platform performs reliably in real-world clinical environments — directly supporting patient care. You will document field events and provide feedback to engineering, operations, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement. This is a highly visible role well suited to a technically skilled individual who enjoys hands-on work, travel to customer sites, and being part of a mission-driven medical device company — whether an experienced technician or an early-career engineer looking to grow with a rapidly scaling company. Key Responsibilities System Installation & Site Readiness Install, configure, and commission Promaxo MRI systems at customer clinical sites, including uncrating, setup, calibration, verification, and on-site acceptance testing Conduct site assessments to ensure electrical, environmental, and space requirements are met Collaborate with facilities teams, contractors, and service partners to prepare customer sites Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Perform routine preventive maintenance, mechanical alignment, diagnostics, coil checks, and system calibrations Execute corrective maintenance to resolve MRI system failures, subsystem malfunctions, image quality issues, firmware problems, and electrical/mechanical faults Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related equipment issues in the field, troubleshooting to identify root causes and restore system functionality Clinical & Customer Support Provide on-site and remote technical support (phone, email, video, ticketing system) to clinical customers Support clinicians and technologists during go-live, early adoption, and post-installation phases Train users on system operation, imaging workflow, daily checks, and safety practices Represent Promaxo professionally and provide a responsive, high-quality customer experience Technical Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate service logs, visit reports, system configurations, and maintenance documentation Document service activities, parts usage, and issue resolution in Promaxo's quality, CRM, and ticketing systems in compliance with established procedures Document and escalate systemic issues to engineering and operations teams Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate with the Sr. Director of Operations and Engineering on recurring issues and product feedback Provide field insights to design engineering, manufacturing, and product teams for continuous product improvement Participate in new product introduction (NPI) builds, testing, and validation as required Maintain service tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biomedical, electrical, mechanical, computer, or systems engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline — or an Associate's degree in electronics, biomedical equipment technology, or a related field with equivalent hands-on experience; equivalent military or advanced technical training also considered 1-5 years of experience servicing complex electromechanical systems (medical imaging preferred) Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including safe use of multimeters and other diagnostic tools; ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics Familiarity with mechanical assembly, cabling, alignment, computer-based diagnostic systems, and basic software troubleshooting Strong mechanical aptitude and a structured approach to diagnosing complex system issues, with strong attention to detail and the ability to follow documented procedures and safety protocols Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for customer-facing and clinical environments Willingness to travel up to 70% domestically for installations and service support, including occasional overnight travel Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely in technical installation and clinical environments Ability to work in close proximity to MRI systems and strong magnetic fields for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation Preferred Qualifications Field service experience with MRI, CT, ultrasound, radiation therapy, automation, or other regulated capital equipment Exposure to FDA-regulated medical devices, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, or controlled service/QSR documentation Experience performing calibrations, PQ/OQ testing, and acceptance/validation protocols Experience working in hospitals, imaging centers, ambulatory surgical centers, laboratories, or other controlled clinical customer environments Basic understanding of MRI or other imaging technology Relevant technical certifications (e.g., biomedical equipment technician certification) Training, Benefits & Career Growth At Promaxo, you'll get hands-on, product-specific training and the tools you need to succeed from day one - plus real investment in where you go next.
