Job DescriptionCustomized Energy Solutions (CES) is seeking an experienced Analyst, Wholesale Energy Services - Midwest Region to support our wholesale electricity market consulting and operational services, with a primary focus on the MISO market.

The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in deregulated electricity markets and will work directly with CES wholesale generation and load-serving clients. The role combines day-to-day market operations—including scheduling, settlements, reporting, and other back-office functions—with analytical and consulting work focused on wholesale electricity markets.

This position requires an individual who is analytical, detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. The Analyst will work both independently and collaboratively with CES colleagues and clients and will be expected to develop a strong understanding of client operations, MISO market rules, and evolving wholesale market requirements.

ResponsibilitiesCoordinate generation scheduling, reporting, and related operational activities for wholesale generation clients.

Review and analyze MISO settlement statements, identify discrepancies, prepare supporting analyses, and submit settlement disputes when appropriate.

Develop settlement reports, monitoring tools, models, and other analytical resources to help generation and load-serving clients manage wholesale market activity efficiently.

Monitor MISO market developments, rule changes, tariff requirements, and settlement impacts and communicate relevant developments to clients.

Support client operational processes associated with wholesale generation, load, scheduling, settlements, and market participation.

Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of MISO wholesale electricity markets and, as needed, other organized electricity markets.

Develop and enhance analytical and modeling tools used for energy resource assessments, market evaluations, settlement analysis, and related consulting work.

Participate in research and consulting projects involving wholesale electricity market structures, pricing, generation, load, and market rules.

Identify potential opportunities to provide scheduling, settlement, analytical, or related wholesale market services to existing and prospective clients.

Assist in developing proposals and scopes of work and work with clients and prospective clients to refine project objectives and deliverables.

Communicate analytical findings, market developments, operational issues, and recommendations clearly to internal teams and clients.

QualificationsMinimum of three years of professional experience in deregulated or organized wholesale electricity markets.

Demonstrated knowledge of the MISO wholesale electricity market, including market operations and settlement statements.

Experience interacting with MISO market systems, processes, or market data.

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, finance, or another quantitative or related field.

Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Experience conducting market, technical, or project-based research.

Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve data or settlement discrepancies.

Ability to manage recurring operational deadlines while also supporting longer-term analytical projects.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical or market concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Preferred QualificationsExperience working directly with generation owners, load-serving entities, retail energy suppliers, utilities, or other wholesale electricity market participants.

Experience with MISO scheduling, settlements, market registration, or related operational processes.

Microsoft SQL or other relational database experience.

Experience working with large market, settlement, meter, pricing, or operational datasets.

Experience developing analytical models, reporting tools, or process automation.

Graduate degree in engineering, economics, statistics, econometrics, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
