Job Description
Mission The A-C Electric Company Internship Experience Program offers a unique, hands-on learning opportunity for students passionate about applying their mathematical skills in the construction and electrical industries. This 10-week summer program provides a personalized learning journey that immerses interns in real-world estimating projects, fostering technical growth, professional development, and industry insight. As an Electrical Estimating Intern , you'll work alongside experienced estimators and project teams to analyze project plans, evaluate costs, and prepare competitive bids. You'll gain valuable exposure to how mathematics drives decision-making and precision in project planning.

Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering (Electrical/Civil), Business with quantitative focusKey Responsibilities:
Over the course of our 10-week internship experience you will have the opportunity to: Collaborate with an estimating mentor to understand the bidding process for electrical construction projects Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to identify scope and requirements Perform accurate quantity take-offs using both manual calculations and estimating software Research and analyze costs for materials, labor, and equipment Assist in preparing bid proposals and supporting documentation Apply mathematical models and data analysis techniques to improve estimating accuracy Participate in Book Club assignments to strengthen communication and leadership skills Contribute to a LEAN project related to estimating or process improvement, culminating in a formal presentation to company leaders Attend networking events, "Meet & Greets," and professional development activities with peers and senior staff Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 Enrolled student attending a college or university with an expected graduation on or before August 2029 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): We're looking for students who have shown solid academic performance — at least a 3.0 GPA in upper-division courses for your major, or a 2.75 GPA overall. Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations. Strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research, or engineering internships. Exceptional communication skills, interest, and enthusiasm related to electrical engineering and/or construction.Relocation:
Must be able to relocate to Bakersfield, CA or Fresno, CA for the entirety of the internship.Internship Benefits:

$19/hr. - $24.00/hr . Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
