Job Description
Description Westwood Professional Services, Inc is hiring a Manager of Systems Studies to join our team! The Manager of Systems Studies leads the execution and technical oversight of power system studies for renewable generation facilities, including solar, wind, and energy storage projects. This role is responsible for managing and growing a team of engineers performing steady state and transient simulations, ensuring technical excellence, consistency, and timely project delivery. Leadership & Team Management Assist with the leadership and management of a growing team of electrical engineers performing electrical modeling and analysis for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Oversee direct reports and support team growth and interaction. Mentor junior engineers and support professional development within the systems studies team. Assist the Sr. Manager, Systems Studies with day-to-day project oversight and coordination, workload delegation, problem solving, and team leadership. Technical Leadership & Quality Coordinate with project managers, protection engineers, equipment vendors, and clients to ensure alignment of study scope and technical assumptions. Provide technical oversight and QA/QC for all dynamic modeling and EMT analysis deliverables. Develop, review, and validate power system models for renewable facilities, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems. Oversee routine electrical studies in DIgSILENT PowerFactory and ETAP and perform such studies as necessary to assist with team bandwidth. Assist with enforcing internal modeling standards, best practices, and quality control procedures. Business Development Assist with business development efforts by contributing to proposals, technical scoping, and client presentations. Requirements Approximately 10-15 years of experience in renewable energy and/or closely related power system modeling. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field with a power systems focus. Direct experience using power system modeling and analysis tools, such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM Power•Tools, CYME, PSSE, PSLF, or ASPEN. Direct experience performing most or all the following studies: short circuit and effective grounding, load flow and reactive power, power loss, insulation coordination, grounding, arc flash, harmonics, protection coordination, and concentric neutral induced voltage. Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and providing technical oversight to engineers performing electrical systems studies. Must be detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality. Must be a supportive team player, capable of working effectively in cross-functional teams and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Must be fluent in English and adept at technical writing. Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
