Job Description
Your Job DEPCOM Power is seeking a Subcontract Manager - Mechanical scope. This is a discipline role covering mechanical subcontracting across our portfolio, from scope development and bid evaluation through negotiation and change management. Located in Scottsdale, AZ, this position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. Our Team You will join DEPCOM's Subcontracts function within Supply Chain, reporting to the Director of Subcontracts, and work daily with Project Managers, Field Operations Managers, Bidding & Estimating and Engineering. You will be one of a small group of discipline managers covering civil, mechanical and electrical, each responsible for their trade across the portfolio. What You Will Do
- Develop and evaluate mechanical scopes of work and identify gaps before award
- Evaluate subcontractor bids, pricing and execution capability, and provide award recommendations to Project Management
- Lead commercial negotiations with mechanical subcontractors on scope, terms, pricing and change orders against the project estimate
- Own and develop DEPCOM's relationships with mechanical subcontractors, serving as their primary point of contact across the portfolio
- Identify and qualify new mechanical contractors and maintain a capable, resilient partner base
- Monitor work concentration across the mechanical partner base
- Support Project Management on subcontract versus self-perform strategy
- Provide market intelligence on mechanical contractor capability, capacity and pricing
- Escalate higher-risk commercial and contractual matters to the Director of Subcontracts Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in mechanical or solar installation construction gained with a contractor, as a subcontracts manager at an EPC, or in construction management, field engineering or project engineering at an EPC
- Experience negotiating commercial terms, pricing or change orders directly with contractors or suppliers
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Experience developing or evaluating scopes of work and pricing for mechanical construction What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
- Utility-scale solar construction experience
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining long-term contractor or supplier relationships
- Working knowledge of piling, racking and module installation at utility scale
- Experience on projects where in-house crews and subcontractors share scope on the same site
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business or a related field At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
