Senior Aerospace Program Manager - Military Aviation Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Aerospace Program Manager to lead complex aircraft and aviation programs from planning through execution and closeout. This position will be responsible for managing program cost, schedule, technical performance, regulatory compliance, risk, and contractual requirements while coordinating across engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, contracts, and senior leadership. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience within the aerospace/aviation industry , with a strong preference for candidates who have supported military aircraft programs, particularly the C-130 platform . A strong understanding of FAA and Department of Defense (DoD) airworthiness requirements is essential. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day execution of assigned aerospace and aviation programs, ensuring contractual, cost, schedule, quality, and performance objectives are achieved. Develop and maintain program plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and execution strategies. Provide regular program status updates, forecasts, risks, and corrective-action plans to senior management. Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate technical, schedule, cost, supplier, and programmatic risks throughout the program lifecycle. Coordinate closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Contracts, and other functional teams. Partner with Contracts personnel to address contract requirements, modifications, interpretations, deliverables, and closeout activities. Ensure programs are executed in accordance with applicable FAA, DoD, airworthiness, federal acquisition, and company requirements . Support and oversee activities associated with aircraft certification, airworthiness compliance, and technical documentation. Review and analyze bills of material (BOMs), engineering drawings, specifications, technical data, designs, and manufacturing requirements . Evaluate manufacturing limitations, supplier capabilities, facilities, material requirements, and parts/equipment availability that could affect program execution. Facilitate communication and cooperation across multidisciplinary teams and resolve conflicts or execution issues as they arise. Develop and implement corrective-action strategies when programs deviate from cost, schedule, quality, or performance objectives. Ensure completed programs are properly closed out, contractual obligations are satisfied, and required documentation is accurately maintained. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of related aerospace program/project management experience . Significant experience within the aerospace or aviation industry , including direct involvement with aircraft programs. Experience supporting military aviation programs strongly preferred; C-130 program or platform experience is highly desirable . Demonstrated expertise with FAA and DoD regulatory requirements , particularly airworthiness compliance . Strong background in program management, project execution, quality assurance, and program development. Experience managing programs involving engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and contractual requirements. Ability to review and understand bills of material, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and key drawing requirements . Ability to analyze technical data, engineering designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier capabilities, and parts/equipment availability. Demonstrated experience managing program cost, schedule, performance, risk, and corrective actions. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with the C-130 Hercules aircraft platform or related military transport aircraft programs. Background supporting aircraft modifications, upgrades, sustainment, or modernization programs . Experience with aerospace prototyping, new product development, or aviation engineering programs. Familiarity with government contracting and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) . Experience working directly with DoD customers, military aviation organizations, OEMs, or major aerospace contractors. Technical or engineering background involving aircraft systems, structures, manufacturing, integration, or modification. Ideal Candidate The strongest candidate will be a seasoned aerospace program leader who understands both the technical and business sides of military aircraft programs . They should be comfortable working with engineering drawings and BOMs while simultaneously managing contracts, schedules, costs, regulatory requirements, suppliers, risks, and cross-functional teams. Experience with C-130 programs and FAA/DoD airworthiness compliance will be particularly valuable for this position.
