Job Description

We are seeking a Transportation Design Project Manager to lead the design and delivery of roadway, bridge, and drainage improvement projects. This position is ideal for a licensed Professional Civil Engineer with a strong transportation design background who enjoys leading teams, managing clients, and working on challenging public infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Transportation Department Manager while taking responsibility for project management, client relationships, design quality, scheduling, budgets, staffing, and major design elements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career and grow into a leadership role. Key Responsibilities Develop project scopes and fees for prospective transportation projects. Manage client relationships and support business development and marketing efforts. Lead and coordinate project teams and assign staff resources as needed. Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and major design elements. Perform quality control reviews of transportation designs, plans, and specifications. Coordinate with clients, agencies, contractors, and internal project teams. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and design staff. Support the successful delivery of transportation projects from initial concept through final design and construction. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, licensed in South Dakota or capable of obtaining South Dakota licensure. 5-10 years of transportation design experience. Previous project management experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of roadway, bridge, drainage, and transportation infrastructure design. Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads preferred. Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic analysis using HEC-RAS and/or HY-8 is a plus. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Professional presence with strong decision-making, planning, and organizational abilities. High level of creativity, enthusiasm, initiative, and self-motivation. Ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects and priorities. Valid driver's license required.
