Job Description
Electrical Project Manager - Data CentersPosition OverviewLead electrical project execution for data center construction and upgrade programs, ensuring safe, ontime, and onbudget delivery of missioncritical electrical systems. You will manage selfperform electrical crews and union partners (IBEW), coordinate MEP disciplines, and apply journeyman level technical expertise to hyperscale, semiconductor, and other highavailability facilities. The role focuses on construction management, commissioning, and compliance with CSA and other applicable standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage all phases of electrical construction projects for data centers and semiconductor facilities, from preconstruction through turnover, with emphasis on missioncritical and hyperscale requirements.
Direct and supervise selfperform electrical crews and subcontractors, including coordination with IBEW labor, ensuring productivity, quality, and adherence to union agreements.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts; track progress, approve change orders, and drive corrective actions to meet financial targets.
Coordinate MEP design intent and construction sequencing with mechanical, structural, and civil teams to minimize conflicts and maintain critical path for commissioning.
Ensure installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems (medium voltage, switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, bus duct, grounding, cable management) meet project specifications and missioncritical reliability standards.
Implement and enforce safety programs, job hazard analyses, and quality control processes; lead site safety meetings and ensure compliance with CSA and local electrical codes.
Prepare and review technical submittals, shop drawings, and RFI responses; work with engineering teams to resolve design issues and propose constructible solutions.
Manage client and stakeholder communications, provide regular status reports, and lead coordination meetings with owners, consultants, and vendors.
Oversee procurement and onsite acceptance of major electrical equipment; coordinate vendor representatives during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Mentor and develop field staff, promote continuous improvement, and capture lessons learned to improve future project performance.
QualificationsJourneyman electrician credential or equivalent electrical trade certification; demonstrated handson electrical expertise.
Minimum 7+ years of electrical construction experience with at least 4+ years in project management roles on data center, hyperscale, or semiconductor projects.
Proven experience managing selfperform crews and working with IBEW union labor agreements.
Strong knowledge of missioncritical electrical systems (UPS, generators, medium voltage distribution, switchgear, PDUs, bus duct) and MEP coordination.
Familiarity with CSA standards and local electrical codes; experience ensuring compliance and passing inspections.
Experience with construction management processes: scheduling (MS Project), procurement, cost control, change management, submittal review, and commissioning protocols.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to interact with owners, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
Comfortable working in fastpaced, highdemand environments (hyperscale and semiconductor); strong problem solving and decision making under schedule pressure.
