full-time Senior Transmission Planning Engineer San Antonio, TX (Hybrid, Open to Relocation) $120,000 - $140,000 + Benefits A fast-growing, Texas-based utility-scale solar and battery storage developer is seeking a Senior Transmission Planning Engineer to take a lead technical role on a lean, high-impact team supporting an expanding project pipeline across ERCOT and MISO. Unlike larger organizations where interconnection and transmission planning sit in separate teams, here the two are merged, you'll work across the full breadth of the discipline, own studies end-to-end, and mentor junior engineers as the team continues to grow. What you'll do Lead power flow modeling, interconnection analyses, and utility coordination to identify optimal project locations and sizes Conduct transmission analysis to evaluate constraints, congestion, curtailment risk, and basis risk Review interconnection study results and validate modeling assumptions, inputs, and outputs Support negotiation of interconnection agreements, including technical exhibits and specifications Lead development and technical review of single-line diagrams and interconnection facility designs Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers Represent the organization in technical discussions with ISOs and utilities What you'll bring Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Experience in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or power market analysis Hands-on experience with PowerWorld, PSSE, PLEXOS, or TARA Familiarity with ERCOT and/or MISO interconnection processes preferred; other ISO experience welcomed for the right candidate Working knowledge of reliability, stability, congestion, curtailment, and LMP concepts Strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently with limited supervision Why this role Genuine ownership of studies that directly inform capital investment decisions A merged interconnection/transmission planning remit - broader technical exposure than most senior roles offer Real mentorship responsibility and a clear path toward management as the team scales A collaborative, high-energy culture Competitive benefits package including health/dental/vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and PTO Interested?
