The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in engineering and will supervise electrical, mechanical, systems, test and software engineers. This role demands a strong background in research and development and proficiency in Systems Engineering processes and work breakdown structures. MATBOCK focuses on paradigm-shifting technology that enhances the capabilities of the United States Department of Defense. This role will primarily support vehicle electrification efforts, including hybrid electric vehicles, range extenders, and generators.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of electrical, mechanical, systems, software and test engineers in the full lifecycle product development of hybrid electric vehicles and components. Oversee the design, development, prototype testing, manufacturing, and implementation of hybrid electric vehicles. Develop and review schematics, drawings, CAD models, and presentations. Conduct and guide methodical experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to drive design decisions. Test and evaluate theoretical designs to ensure compliance with project specifications and performance goals. Identify, formulate, and implement effective solutions to emerging problems in hybrid electric vehicle development. Evaluate final product performance, reliability, and safety, ensuring adherence to military and industry standards. Modify and enhance designs to meet requirements and eliminate malfunctions. Estimate budgets and project scope, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Provide strategic direction and mentorship to junior and senior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Prepare and review comprehensive product reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Oversee the physical installation and testing of mechanical and electrical components. Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements and Systems Engineering processes. Develop and manage work breakdown structures to ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
Requirements and Skills:
At least 10 years of proven electrical engineering experience, with a focus on electric or hybrid electric vehicles. Extensive experience in supervising and leading engineering teams. In-depth knowledge of research and development processes and Systems Engineering. Proficiency with product lifecycle management (PLM) and finite element analysis (FEA). Expertise in 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., Ultium, AutoCAD, ProE, or others). Strong understanding of core concepts, including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, and materials science. Exceptional creativity and analytical skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical knowledge clearly and understandably. Strong technical writing skills for the preparation of detailed reports and documentation. BS degree in Engineering, with a preference for advanced degrees or certifications. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Solid technical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Honest, fun, hard-working, and ready to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.

Office and laboratory settings. Use of standard office equipment and electrical testing tools.
