Position Summary The Vice President of Engineering is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all engineering functions within the shipyards, ensuring engineering capabilities, processes, and resources support safe, efficient, cost-effective, and compliant ship construction and repair. This role leads engineering strategy, technical execution, design and production engineering, engineering standards, and cross-functional collaboration. The Vice President establishes technical direction, drives continuous improvement and digital transformation, and ensures engineering deliverables meet contractual and regulatory requirements. This is a leadership position with direct management of employees. Domestic and international travel may be required. Requirements:
Required Skills Advanced knowledge of shipbuilding engineering, naval architecture, marine systems, and ship design/construction processes, with the ability to provide technical direction across engineering disciplines Strong knowledge of shipbuilding standards, regulatory requirements, engineering change/configuration management, and technical documentation applicable to commercial and government vessels Ability to lead complex engineering programs, including resource planning, cost and schedule management, risk assessment, design reviews, root-cause analysis, and implementation of process improvements Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; employee recognition and discipline; resolving employee concerns; and developing employees with the skills, competencies, and values needed to achieve Company goals Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 16 Years of -design, production, structural, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines required PMP and/or PE certifications preferred Competencies Fincantieri's core competencies reflect our values and key behavioral expectations for all employees:
