Job Description

The Markosky Engineering Group Inc. is looking to grow our team and is searching for an experienced Design Engineer with an interest in water resources to join our Environmental Engineering Department. This individual will complete design work including but not limited to erosion and sediment control, post construction stormwater management, and environmental mitigation under the guidance of technical leads and professional engineers, dependent upon level of experience. The Markosky Engineering Group, Inc. provides engineering and environmental services to public and private clients in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are a diverse team of professional experts in our disciplines. We have a comprehensive understanding of current environmental and engineering standards, and a commitment to sustainable design initiatives. In our over 25 years in business, we have built long-lasting and successful relationships with clients from offices in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. The successful candidate will be based in one of our offices (Ligonier, PA, Elizabethtown, PA, Steubenville, OH or Charleston, WV). Markosky is currently working in a hybrid work environment. This position is responsible for performing design and coordination tasks on projects to ensure the goals or objectives of the projects are accomplished, under the direction of the Environmental Engineering Department Manager, Project Manager and/or Project Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Apply knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices to: Perform design activities for stormwater management and roadway/site drainage, Perform design activities for erosion and sediment control plans, Perform design activities for stream and wetland mitigation plans Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses, Prepare NPDES permit applications, Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates Occasional on-site field work, including testing, construction oversight, and data gathering Coordinate with various federal, state, and local agencies
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Working knowledge of CADD, including MicroStation and AutoCAD, with a focus on 3D grading using AutoCAD Civil3D and Open Roads Designer required Stormwater basin modeling experience using HydroCAD, VTPSUHM, or similar preferred Hydraulic modeling experience using HEC-RAS, GeoHECRAS, or similar preferred NPDES Permitting experience (PA, OH, and WV specific knowledge) preferred Knowledge of engineering principles, design standards and codes, including but not limited to the PA Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual (2006), PA Post Construction Stormwater Management Manual (draft), PA Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Program Manual (2012) preferred Familiarity with PennDOT, PTC, ODOT or WVDOH design standards is a plus Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment required Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Experience:
3+ years of engineering experience
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering required Training (licenses/programs/certificates): Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
