Job Description
Job Summary This role is responsible for planning and administering various phases of engineering work in the location, design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of complex docks facilities and along the inland waterways. Assignments are broad in nature and require the application of technical and administrative controls in making technical determinations and recommendations. Essential Functions (Duties may not include all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.) 1. Plans and supervisors assigned engineering activities of port and inland waterway facilities; advise on technical matters. 2. Recommend and interpret policy for subordinates as needed. 3. Meets with and advises public and private agencies, committees, and individuals on docks and inland waterway policies and programs. 4. Participates in the preparation of various engineering budgets; participates in long range engineering planning. 5. Reviews recommendations and reports submitted by subordinates on complex location, design, construction, and maintenance problems. 6. Conduct investigations as directed by administrative and professional superiors; prepare investigation reports. 7. Provides guidance for the preparation, administration, and review of various engineering proposals prior to submission to superiors. 8. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility May be required to supervise the activities of other engineers and technicians. Minimum Required Education and Experience Minimum Focus Areas Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university Engineering Experience 2 years Post-Licensure Engineering experience Substitutions allowed for
