  • Mechanical Engineer The Mechanical Engineer will possess experience in commercial, military, educational and industrial building design, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection.
The Mechanical Engineer will interface with clients, engineers and architects, project managers, and construction supervisors. Mechanical Engineer will prepare engineering drawings and specifications to specified standards, prepare cost estimates, and transform concept designs into working documents using AutoCAD. Proficiency in Cad software is necessary as AutoCAD is utilized in the preparation of plans and a working knowledge of Revit is a plus. Common tasks and duties include the following: Preparation of drawings and specifications (construction documents), including general sheets, symbols, mechanical, plumbing, floor plans, details of construction, etc. Specifications utilizing industry-standard CSI format. Working understanding of applicable codes and standards, with focus on mechanical codes. HVAC flow diagram and load calculations Plumbing load calculations Title-24 calculations RFI responses Mechanical equipment schedules and control diagrams Plumbing equipment schedules Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review process (typical AHJ such as city and county building departments, Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), Division of State Architect (DSA), and Department of Healthcare Access and Information (HCAI/OSHPD), etc. Interface with clients, users, project managers, and construction supervisors as well as various consulting architects and engineers. Communication with in-house technical team, including architects, structural engineers, mechanical and plumbing engineers, fire protection, and AutoCAD drafting technicians. Autocad and PDF drawings Excel calculations and spreadsheets Word documents for meeting notes and technical reports Preparation of Rough Order-of-Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates Bluebeam peer review Design of drawings and specifications for construction in the following industry types: California State Agencies (DGS, DSH, CalVet, etc.)
LA City and LA County Departments of Public Works Education:
schools, universities, colleges (LAUSD, UCLA, UC Irvine, etc.)
Healthcare:
hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, mental health facilities
Correctional and Law Enforcement:
jails, prisons, police departments, sheriff departments, fire departments (CDCR, FBOP, CalFire, OCSD, etc.)
Industrial:
laboratories, R&D spaces
Commercial:
office spaces Aerospace (Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, HRL, JPL, etc.) Job Requirements B.S. in Mechanical Engineering 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design EIT P.E. registration a plus Citizenship Experience with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review process Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Division of State Architect (DSA) Department of Healthcare Access and Information (HCAI/OSHPD) City and county plan check for various locations in California Experience with commercial and industrial projects Excellent technical and communication skills Technical writing skills Proficiency in computer design software programs, mainly AutoCAD, Word, Excel Cost estimating Ability to handle and design multiple projects with minimum supervision Have a good knowledge of designing HVAC systems Have a good knowledge of designing plumbing systems Vaccinations if required by client
