If you're a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys designing HVAC and plumbing systems—not just sitting behind a desk crunching numbers—this opportunity offers the chance to influence projects from concept through construction. We're partnering with a respected mechanical contractor that has built a reputation for craftsmanship, innovation, and long-term relationships with premier custom home builders throughout Northwest Michigan. As the Mechanical Engineer / Estimator, you'll play a critical role designing mechanical systems, developing accurate estimates, and helping bring luxury residential projects to life. Compensation &$ $100-120K annually (base salary plus commission) Company truck and fuel card Company phone Medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance 401(k) with company match Paid vacation, holidays, and wellness time HSA/FSA options Tuition reimbursement Employee referral program Employee discounts Stable, growing company with long-term career advancement What You'll Do Design HVAC and plumbing systems for custom residential construction projects Develop accurate estimates by reviewing architectural plans, specifications, and project requirements Design efficient ductwork layouts that meet code requirements and maximize system performance Collaborate with architects, builders, project managers, and internal teams throughout the estimating process Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining quality and performance standards Build lasting relationships with custom home builders, architects, and developers Ensure seamless project transitions from estimating through construction Support continued growth by delivering exceptional customer service and technical expertise What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Experience designing residential HVAC systems Strong understanding of residential construction practices Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications Experience creating ductwork layouts Strong estimating, analytical, and organizational skills Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Mechanical Engineering background or degree Experience estimating HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems Experience with custom luxury residential construction Residential plumbing design experience Hydronic system design experience Experience using estimating software and advanced spreadsheets Why This Opportunity Stands Out This company has earned the trust of many of Northern Michigan's top custom home builders by delivering exceptional craftsmanship and doing business the right way.
