Job Description

Craftsmen Contractors is seeking an experienced Plumbing Detailer for the New Orleans and Pearl River areas. Work in an office in the New Orleans area and sometimes work at a fab shop in Pearl River. This is a full-time position for a commercial construction company and could become a temp-to-permanent one for the right candidate. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, working day shifts. Pay rate starts at $35/hour, but is negotiable for highly experienced candidates. Weekly pay by direct deposit. As a Mechanical/Plumbing Detailer, you will play a crucial role in our construction projects by creating detailed plans and drawings for mechanical and plumbing systems. You will work closely with the project team to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and collaborate with the design team to resolve all issues discovered through review and coordination of building systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Help create complete, constructible mechanical & plumbing models for installation and pre-fabrication. Develop detailed plumbing system drawings, including P&IDs, schematics, and 2D CAD documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable codes such as ASME standards. Interface with and support the project teams. This includes project management, field supervision, and the fabrication team. Attend coordination meetings with other trades while utilizing Navisworks to develop a clash-free, coordinated building. Collaborate with architects, MEP Engineers, and other trade disciplines. Incorporate project drawings/specifications into model and shop drawings. Work closely with the construction management team to ensure drawings convey correct information. Support technical writing efforts related to design specifications, procedures, and project reports. Identify potential problems with design intent quickly and present cost-effective solutions. Conduct field surveys as required for renovation work. Work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, motivated, and detail-oriented. Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, conformance with standards. Report to supervisor on status of work, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Will need to have at least 5 years of experience working as a Plumbing Detailer in the past. Computer-savvy experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations. Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment. A familiar knowledge of sheet metal and plumbing systems is desired Be able to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems. Certification from a recognized Revit training facility is preferred. Able to contribute to the design review process and offer value engineering solutions.
