Job Description

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Technical Program Manager - Hardware to support advanced hardware engineering programs focused on vehicle sensors and test assets. In this role, you'll partner closely with engineering leaders across hardware, software, vehicle engineering, product, and suppliers to drive execution across radar and sensor-related hardware programs. You'll support both existing vehicle platforms and new platform development efforts involving early-stage sensor architecture and sensor selection. The ideal candidate is a hardware-focused TPM with experience managing complex hardware development programs across multiple product iterations. They thrive in ambiguous environments, ask the right questions to drive alignment, and are skilled at leading cross-functional teams through all phases of the hardware development lifecycle. As a Technical Program Manager - Hardware, you'll: Lead radar and test asset hardware programs across current and next-generation vehicle platforms. Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure hardware changes are implemented smoothly and on schedule. Support early-stage platform development efforts, including sensor architecture planning and sensor selection activities. Build structure around ambiguous or evolving requirements by driving alignment, clarifying assumptions, and identifying constraints. Define project scope, schedules, milestones, dependencies, and resource requirements across hardware development programs. Proactively identify risks and bottlenecks throughout the hardware development lifecycle and drive mitigation plans. Facilitate cross-functional meetings and decision-making to maintain execution momentum and reduce blockers. Develop and maintain program roadmaps and status reporting for engineering leaders and stakeholders. Partner with engineering, finance, and supplier teams to support resource planning, budget tracking, and execution readiness. Communicate program status, risks, milestones, and tradeoffs clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Travel internationally as needed. 5+ years of experience in technical program management, hardware program management, or engineering management Experience managing multiple end-to-end hardware product development cycles or iterations Strong understanding of hardware development stages, milestones, and associated risks throughout the product lifecycle Experience leading complex cross-functional hardware programs involving engineering, suppliers, and operations stakeholders Ability to navigate ambiguity and help teams progress when requirements are not fully defined Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills Experience influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Gantt charts, and related planning tools Ability and willingness to travel internationally as required A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred
Bonus Qualifications:
Experience with radar, LiDAR, cameras, or other sensor-related hardware systems Experience in automotive, autonomous vehicle, or consumer electronics environments Experience working with contract manufacturers (CMs) and external suppliers Experience supporting hardware/software integration programs A master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across engineering and leadership teams
