The Mixed Signal Hardware Design Engineer will help our engineering team expand our broadband instrumentation product line. This position will bridge the gap between high-speed analog Rx/Tx design and modern digital processing interfaces. The primary objective will be designing printed circuit board assemblies that integrate HYPERLABS' proprietary instrumentation hardware with advanced digital controllers, including AMD Zynq MPSoC compute platforms.Key Responsibilities Power Delivery:
Analyze power requirements for all digital and analog devices. Generate and maintain formal power budget documentation. Design and implement DC power schemes utilizing switch-mode converters and linear regulators. Interface Control Documentation (ICD): Define and document the interface requirements between high-speed analog hardware, data converters, and digital controllers. Generate and maintain specifications for control signals (GPIO, SPI, I2C, JESD204, USB).Signal Integrity:
Evaluate and specify controlled impedance transmission line geometries and high-speed connectors to ensure optimum signal integrity.Component Management:
Create, specify, and maintain CAD components within theHYPERLABS
part database utilizing OrCAD EDM and CIP .Circuit Design:
Architect and implement new circuits, including discrete transistor-level design.Schematic Capture:
Integrate new and existing hardware IP into comprehensive schematic designs using OrCAD Capture .PCB Layout Oversight:
Direct PCB layout activities in OrCAD PCB Designer (Allegro) , ensuring all physical, thermal, and signal integrity constraints are met.Test and Debug:
Perform rigorous testing, characterization, and troubleshooting of both new prototypes and existing production hardware.Education & Experience Requirements Education:
BSEE minimum; MSEE preferred.Professional Experience:
5+ years of professional mixed-signal electronic hardware design experience.Technical Qualifications Circuit Design Skills:
Solid foundation in Circuits 101 and discrete transistor-level design.Transmission Line Theory:
Understanding of scattering parameters, signal reflection, and wave interference.Communication Protocols:
Board-level design experience using hardware interfacing standards (SPI, I2C, JESD204, USB, Ethernet).Data Conversion:
Experience designing with high-speed DACs and ADCs.High-Speed Logic:
Familiarity with industry-standard input/output buffer topologies for high-speed digital logic (CML, ECL, LVDS, CMOS, etc.), including correct termination and AC/DC coupling schemes.Preferred / Bonus
Skills Hands-on experience with the Cadence/OrCAD ecosystem ( OrCAD Capture, OrCAD PCB Designer/Allegro, EDM, CIP, and CIS ). Proficiency in scripting or test automation programming (Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW). Board-level design experience integrating FPGAs, MPSoCs, and DDR4 memory.
