Cedar Rapids, IA We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software/Firmware Engineer with strong experience in FPGA development, verification, and testing for safety-critical aerospace and defense systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience withDO-254 DAL A
processes and be comfortable developing detailed test procedures, executing FPGA tests, and preparing certification-quality documentation. Responsibilities Review and analyze FPGA test plans and requirements. Develop detailed test procedures and test cases for FPGA-based systems. Perform FPGA verification and testing in a laboratory environment. Prepare comprehensive test reports meeting rigorous certification requirements. Develop, review, and maintain hardware requirements and traceability using tools such as DOORS . Design and implementFPGA/RTL
solutions using VHDL or Verilog . Develop testbenches for RTL verification using VHDL or SystemVerilog. Perform functional verification, testing, timing analysis, and timing closure. Support FPGA simulation and synthesis activities. Evaluate and use FPGA development and verification tools. Maintain detailed documentation of requirements, design decisions, verification results, and traceability. Work closely with systems, software, hardware, and certification teams. Work independently while meeting aggressive project schedules and milestones. Required Qualifications Proven experience in FPGA development and verification . Strong knowledge ofDO-254 / DAL A
processes. Experience with FPGA testing and verification planning . Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog . Experience with RTL coding, simulation, and testbench development. Knowledge of digital circuit architecture, resource utilization, timing analysis, and timing closure. Experience with FPGA tools such as ModelSim, Vivado, Quartus, Synplify , or similar. Experience with requirements management and traceability. Familiarity with version control tools such as Git or Subversion . Strong technical documentation and communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, plus 4+ years of relevant experience. Preferred Experience Hands-on FPGA testing in a laboratory environment. Aerospace/defense industry experience. Experience working on safety-critical or high-assurance systems . Experience withDO-254 DAL A
certification documentation and compliance . Familiarity with MIL-STD-516C or related certification guidance.Pay:
