Looking for a lifetime career? Apply today! Job Description The Environmental Controls team at the Knolls Laboratory is seeking a senior engineer to join the team! The person chosen for this position will learn the applicable KL environmental requirements. Specific responsibilities include oversight of environmental functional areas to ensure compliance to requirements, preparation of regulatory reports to outside regulatory agencies, preparation of internal reports, and performing assessments of environmental performance. This role offers the opportunity to perform a wide range of radiological, environmental, safety, and health work to achieve compliance with the Company's standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements. Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure personnel and facility safety and protection of the environment. Conducts trend analysis, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials. Involvement with implementation of employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. Maintains working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
Preferred Skills Experience with PFAS and related regulatory considerations
Broad experience in environmental program areas (such as RCRA, CWA/SPDES, CERCLA, TSCA, and CAA/Air Program)
Experience interfacing with external regulators (e.g., NYSDEC, NYSDOH, EPA)
Working knowledge of environmental investigation/remediation practices
Working knowledge of spill reporting and cleanup practices
Experience reviewing and interpreting regulations and proposed rulemaking actions
Experience reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only.
