PM Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to play a critical role in supporting our growing automotive manufacturing operation in Louisville, Kentucky. This position is responsible for ensuring supplier quality excellence across metal, plastic, and electronic component suppliers while supporting a global supply base, including suppliers throughout Asia and North America. The ideal candidate possesses strong automotive supplier quality experience, a deep understanding of
IATF 16949
requirements, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain. Bilingual English/Mandarin communication skills are highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
IATF 16949
Internal Auditor Certification Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt CPSM Certification Experience using Minitab, Power BI, or similar analytical tools Mandarin Chinese language proficiency Experience coordinating with suppliers in China and APAC regions
Responsibilities:
Supplier Quality Management:
Lead supplier qualification audits (QSA) and process audits (QPA) Evaluate supplier quality systems and manufacturing processes Develop and track supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives Incoming Quality & Process Improvement Establish and maintain incoming quality standards (IQC) Analyze supplier quality performance and defect trends Reduce supplier-related PPM and quality incidents Support supplier Ship-to-Stock qualification programs
New Product Launch Support:
Participate in APQP activities with suppliers Review and approve PPAP documentation Validate supplier manufacturing process capability (Cpk ≥ 1.33) Support prototype and production launch activities Supplier Performance & Risk Management Monitor supplier KPIs including OTD, PPM, and responsiveness Develop supplier scorecards and performance reports Mitigate supply chain and sourcing risks Support cost reduction and total cost of ownership (TCO) initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams Support supplier issue resolution and containment activities Facilitate supplier meetings and quality reviews Assist with global supplier communications and development efforts
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field 5+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience in the automotive industry Experience with manufacturing processes such as: Machining Injection Molding Stamping Automotive Components Strong knowledge of:
IATF 16949 APQP PPAP FMEA MSA
Control Plans Root Cause Analysis 8D Problem Solving Ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally #HSM125
