Job Description

Safety Consultant, Pilz Automation Safety, L.P., Canton, MI. Use Pilz PAScal Safety tool to calculate, document, and verify that machinery safety components, such as sensors, logic, and actuators, achieve the Performance Level (PL) required by risk assessment as per
ISO 12100
(Type A machinery safety), EN
ISO 13849-1/EN/IEC 62061
(machinery safety); and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC/Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 functional safety standards for industrial machinery and equipment. Required travel in
U.S. 20-25
trips P/A (each trip 2 days travel/2 days at site) to perform plant/machinery safety risk assessment audits at OEM industrial machinery manufacturer/OEM end-user plants/warehouses; review/validate machinery and integrated manufacturing systems specifications/layouts and plant manufacturing lines to ensure plant wide compliance with corporate/country legal requirements/standards; to meet with plant and engineering leadership stakeholders; and to Pilz US (MI) HQ for annual meetings (1 week, 2x P/A), such travel equal to ~94-114 days P/A (~26-31% in annual travel). This option does not require the employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis. Bachelor, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Systems, Mechatronics Engineering or related. Twenty-four months' experience as Engineer, Consultant, Assistant Manager, or related, using Pilz PAScal Safety tool to calculate, document, and verify that machinery safety components, such as sensors, logic, and actuators, achieve the PL required by risk assessment as per
ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849-1/EN/IEC 62061
